Environmental Advocates NY is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Environmental Advocates NY respects your right to privacy and is committed to maintaining your confidence and trust. We have created the following privacy policy to inform you about the ways in which we collect and use donor/member information.

Environmental Advocates NY does not sell, rent, share, trade, or disclose any personal information about donors and members to outside organizations.

EANY does not collect any information from you without your knowledge and permission, and we do not ask that you enter any personal information to access or use most areas of our website. In order to use some of the tools and functions, however, such as digital advocacy and online donations, you must enter some identifying information.

Environmental Advocates NY does not disclose this information to anyone except 1) to identify you, as described in the following three paragraphs, to those you contact through our website and 2) to manage our website and database with the help of service providers, who are subject to a non-disclosure agreement. Information you provide EANY is stored in a secure location and is accessible only by designated staff.

Digital Advocacy: In order to send a message from our online action center to government officials and other decision-makers you must identify yourself by name, address, and email. This information is sent to your selected elected official or a federal agency when you send your message, and is necessary to ensure the appropriate decision-makers are contacted. Please note that comments sent to federal agencies may be made available publicly, often via the web, and will sometimes include the full name and address of the person(s) submitting the comments.

Donations: All donations to Environmental Advocates NY are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Donations are not subject to refund. Donor information is kept confidential except for what is required for public reporting purposes under New York State and federal law. In accordance with best practices, Environmental Advocates NY releases an Annual Report to donors which lists the names of those who have supported our work; donors can request to be listed as anonymous.

Membership Information: Activists and donors comprise the membership of Environmental Advocates NY. Membership data is not shared with any organization outside of our own Environmental Advocates Action, which is a non-profit corporation tax exempt under section 501 (c) (4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Members of Environmental Advocates NY will receive periodic mailings, emails, newsletters, and other communications that keep them apprised of our work. Each member can control how their data is used and can contact EANY at any time to make changes, options include: do not mail, do not call and unsubscribing from email.

Data Collection: At times, Environmental Advocates NY will work with partner organizations to facilitate charitable giving to our organization. Member data is not shared with these organizations but new members obtained through them are subject to the individual privacy policies of these organizations.

Secure Transactions: When you donate to Environmental Advocates NY via our website or mail your donation information is encrypted and transmitted via a secure connection. Environmental Advocates NY uses your credit card information only for the purpose of processing your donation. We will not disclose this information except as necessary to process your donation and we do not store it once your donation has been processed.
