Fighting Climate Change
The impacts of climate change can no longer be ignored.
New York is already experiencing the severe impacts of rising global temperatures in the increased frequency of extreme weather events, flooding, prolonged heat waves, and periods of drought. With the federal government attempting to unravel climate and public health initiatives at every turn it is up to states like New York to lead and become a true climate champion.
In order to avert the worst effects of climate change, Environmental Advocates NY is at the forefront of taking action to fight climate change and advocating for policies that transition our economy off of fossil fuels. An important cornerstone of our climate work is to fight for climate justice and promote policies that will uplift those most vulnerable to climate change impacts.
Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act
EANY is dedicated to ensuring New York State meets the legally binding goals set forth in the new climate law aimed at transitioning New York’s economy off fossil fuels in a just and equitable manner.
New York’s transportation sector is by far the largest source of greenhouse gases. New York will need to move away from fossil-fueled powered cars and trucks and into electric transportation.
Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI)
The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) has provided millions to New York State for clean energy programs. Now is the time to make sure that disadvantaged communities receive their lawful full share of that funding.
