Stuart is global head of both the Clean Technology and Renewables (CTR) Group as well as the Venture Capital Coverage Group at Goldman Sachs. This group is responsible for advising, financing, and investing in cleantech companies globally. Prior to leading the CTR effort, he led the firm’s Financial Institution’s Equity Capital Markets Group.

Stuart first joined Goldman Sachs in 1986 and rejoined the firm in 1993 after working on private equity investments. He was named managing director in 1999 and partner in 2000. Stuart is a trustee of the UC Berkeley Foundation and a board member of the Haas School of Business. He is also a board member of and an advisor to the UC Berkeley Energy & Climate Institute (BECI) at the Energy Institute at Haas.

Stuart is a member of the Littauer Society at the Harvard Kennedy School; a member of the Center for Market Innovation’s Advisory Council at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC); and a member of The Nature Conservancy’s California Board of Trustees.
