Robert Sweeney

Robert Sweeney is a lifelong resident of Long Island, NY, and served as a member of the New York State Assembly for nearly 27 years, the last seven as Chair of the Assembly’s Committee on Environmental Conservation. The Committee has jurisdiction over legislation affecting State environmental policy. The primary concerns of the Committee are pollution prevention and control, resource management, & environmental quality issues. As Chair, Sweeney worked on numerous issues ranging from hydrofracking , Great Lakes protection & water quality to climate change & resiliency, toxic chemicals in children products and a ban on the sale of elephant ivory and rhinoceros horn. Bob Sweeney was awarded the Lifetime Green Recognition Award in 2014 by EPL/Environmental Advocates.
