Trump’s EPA Drops the Ball on PFOA, PFOS in Drinking Water

Albany – Today the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) made an announcement regarding the toxic chemicals PFOA and PFOS. The following statement in response can be attributed to Maureen Cunningham, Senior Director for Clean Water for Environmental Advocates NY.

“Today, EPA could have protected people’s health by announcing a plan to strongly and swiftly regulate PFOA and PFOS. Instead, they chose a path that will lead to years of bureaucratic red tape, leaving our most vulnerable populations exposed to these dangerous chemicals. Sadly, New York has a tragic history with these chemicals contaminating drinking water supplies in places like Hoosick Falls, Suffolk County, and Newburgh. EPA has dropped the ball — New York must now pick it up and run with it. Governor Cuomo and the New York State Department of Health should take notice and immediately regulate these chemicals in drinking water.”
