President Trump Repeals Clean Water Rule
Today, the Trump administration is announcing its repeal of the Clean Water Rule, which provided federal protections for many of New York’s streams and wetlands. The following can be attributed to Maureen Cunningham, Senior Director for Clean Water at Environmental Advocates NY:
“Healthy streams, lakes and wetlands are the lifeblood of New York State, filtering harmful pollutants from drinking water and serving as a natural defense against flooding and climate change. The Trump administration’s trashing of the Clean Water Rule puts our critical water resources in danger, favoring corporate polluters over clean water. New York can’t sit back while our clean water is under threat: We urge our state leaders to bolster statewide protections of our streams, lakes and wetlands which are vital in providing safe drinking water, recreational opportunities, and a vibrant economy for all New Yorkers.”
