For Immediate Release: August 20, 2020
Today the New York State Supreme Court issued a decision in a lawsuit challenging New York’s Plastic Bag regulations. Below is a statement in response by Kate Kurera, Deputy Director at Environmental Advocates NY:
“New York has a law on the books that bans plastic bags today. The ruling released today by the Supreme Court of New York does nothing to change that fact or change DEC’s ability to enforce the law. Our environment and our health have already benefited from New York’s leadership on banning plastic bags. We expect retailers to comply and the state will now enforce the law.”
