Hoosick Falls Bill Passes Senate

Albany – Today, the New York State Senate passed legislation to help Hoosick Falls residents recoup medical costs associated with the water contamination crisis. The bill previously passed the Assembly with overwhelmingly bipartisan support, 132-7. It now heads to Governor Cuomo to be signed into law.

The following statement is from Liz Moran, water & natural resources associate at Environmental Advocates NY:

“The residents of Hoosick Falls had a major victory today. At every turn, they have had to fight and scrape over what we all take for granted: healthy water that doesn’t make us sick, and a government that has our backs. Were it not for their tireless advocacy, which will be needed for months, if not years, to come, the door to legal recourse for their medical costs could have slammed shut. Environmental Advocates is proud to be a partner with the residents of Hoosick Falls, and all communities, whose health and safety has been placed in harm’s way by industry greed.”
