Today, Governor Cuomo announced that the Environmental Bond Act had been removed from the November ballot.
The following response can be attributed to Peter M. Iwanowicz, Executive Director of Environmental Advocates NY:
“Removing the Bond Act from this year’s ballot is shortsighted and strips New Yorkers of the opportunity to voice their support for clean water, clean energy, and green jobs. The Bond Act would have provided a desperately needed boost to our crumbling water infrastructure and would have jumpstarted innovative energy programs, all while stimulating our economy just when we really need it. As New York navigates the recovery to the pandemic, it must ensure New Yorkers have clean water drink and clean air to breathe. This is not a good start.”
