Today, the New York State Climate Action Council, the body charged with developing a plan to achieve the state’s climate goals, received information on the estimated costs and benefits of different plan scenarios.

The following statement in response can be attributed to Conor Bambrick, Director of Climate Policy, Environmental Advocates NY:

“Today, it became even clearer that acting quickly to rid ourselves of polluting fossil fuels is the right path for our health, safety, and economy. As we know, the benefits of moving swiftly off fossil fuels far outweigh the costs —preventing tens of thousands of premature deaths and hundreds of thousands of lost workdays in the process. When job benefits are also taken into consideration, New Yorkers will see close to $2 dollars in benefits for every $1 dollar spent. This is the definition of a win-win.”
