Today, New York announced funding for three offshore wind and 22 land-based projects totaling 6.4 gigawatts. The following statement in response can be attributed to Vanessa Fajans-Turner, Executive Director of Environmental Advocates NY.

“Today’s announcement not only paves the way for a greener, cleaner state but also prioritizes a sustainable future for subsequent generations of New Yorkers. The proposed projects, boasting 6.4 gigawatts of capacity, represent significant progress toward achieving our climate objectives. This comprehensive initiative promises substantial economic investment, the creation of approximately 8,300 jobs, and dedicated support for disadvantaged communities. The state is setting an impressive example. It is one we must follow through on. We thank Governor Hochul and other partners for their leadership in this endeavor, it underscores a continuing commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.”
