Drinking Water Quality Council to Meet Tomorrow
Albany – The state’s Drinking Water Quality Council will meet tomorrow, Wednesday October 17 @10 AM in Meeting Room 5 on the concourse of the Empire State Plaza.
The following statement is attributable to Liz Moran, water and natural resources director for Environmental Advocates NY.
Albany – “After the Drinking Water Quality Council and Department of Health missed their legal deadline to recommend MCLs for PFOA, PFOS, and 1,4-dioxane, it is expected that they will finally take action tomorrow. Delays are dangerous. Every second the Governor, his Department of Health, and the Drinking Water Quality Council fail to address these dangerous chemicals, the greater the chance that more New Yorkers will get sick. If recommendations are not proposed tomorrow, New Yorkers will likely have to wait until next year to know if their water is safe – which means another deadline will be missed and public health will continue to be jeopardized.”
