API Fracking “Poll” A Farce

Statement from Policy Director Katherine Nadeau

“The American Petroleum Institute’s new “poll” is so laughable and poorly prepared, Governor Cuomo and the public will see it and the accompanying campaign for what it is: deceitful propaganda bankrolled by a desperate and greedy industry.

Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers are fighting to protect New York from fracking. These are real people taking time out of their days to protect our public health. It is, quite honestly, embarrassing to watch the industry’s lead voice in New York State attack, deride and demean these taxpayers. No matter how much money the industry spends, the facts are the facts and New Yorkers, especially Upstate, oppose fracking.

Whether we’re talking about frackers or Big Oil, New Yorkers are smarter than industry hacks and their spin machines. All we’ve learned today is that apparently the oil and gas industry conducts polls much like they frack: fundamentally flawed, inherently misguided, and based on lies.”
