Emerging Contaminants in Drinking Water

Drinking water in New York State faces threats from a range of pollutants, such as per- and polyfluoroakyl chemicals (PFAS) and other emerging contaminants. These pollutants have poisoned water supplies in places like Hoosick Falls, Petersburgh, Newburgh, and Long Island, causing many residents to get sick.

EANY works to ensure that all New Yorkers know what’s in their water through expanded testing throughout the state. We also work to ensure that any drinking water pollution is cleaned up so that communities do not have to drink contaminated water. We work closely with communities like Hoosick Falls and Newburgh who have been impacted by water pollution, helping raise their voices to state leaders and providing support and tools to help them navigate their crises.
