ENVIRONMENTAL ADVOCATE ROB MOORE TO JOIN NRDC
Albany—After nine years leading Environmental Advocates of New York, Executive Director Rob Moore will be joining the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), where he will lead their national Water and Climate team. He will be based out of NRDC’s Midwest office located in Chicago.
Prior to joining Environmental Advocates, Moore served as the Lake Champlain Lakekeeper for the Conservation Law Foundation’s Vermont Advocacy Center, as well as Executive Director of Prairie Rivers Network, Illinois’ only statewide river conservation group.
“My time at the helm of Environmental Advocates has been the most rewarding of my career. We have built an amazing organization, well-respected for its credibility, integrity and its leadership within New York's diverse environmental community,” said Moore. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead NRDC’s efforts to better manage our nation’s water resources and address the impacts that result from our rapidly warming climate.”
“Rob has provided Environmental Advocates of New York with nine years of outstanding leadership. While we’re sorry to see him leave Albany, we’re not the least bit surprised that a national organization would want to take advantage of his many talents,” said John Buttrick, Chairman of the Board. “Rob has done an amazing job strengthening the organization’s reputation, and assembled a great team that is pressing state government on the most important environmental issues we face today, including fracking, climate change, and rebuilding in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.”
Moore will make the transition in May, after which the board of directors will undertake its search for a new executive director.
