On April 23rd, people from every corner of New York came to Albany for Earth Day Lobby Day, a yearly event for every day New Yorkers get a chance to share their concerns with state leaders face to face. This year, advocates discussed issues including fracking, solar power, and toxic chemicals with state leaders.
I was fortunate to join many of the “citizen lobbyists” during the introductory ceremonies. I was very impressed with the level of enthusiasm in the crowd. It was great to see so many committed advocates in one place. More impressive was the knowledge that these concerned New Yorkers had about our state’s environmental issues. It was a great crowd, but I know there are many more people that would love the chance to speak face to face with state leaders about these issues. As you’re reading this, consider taking a trip to Albany next year to let your voice be heard.
